This project was designed for a couple planning their retirement. The brief was to design and construct a secondary dwelling on their rural property that could serve as an art studio, or as a yoga retreat function venue, or as an AirBnB rental.
The pavilion is oriented northwest to enjoy dramatic views of the Lost World Mountains. In order to manage the heat load of summer afternoon sun, the building includes a very deep covered outdoor space with slatted screens that can be fully closed, or fully opened by hand.
The eastern side of the pavilion is a sheltered courtyard space with a framed view of Wollumbin/Mount Warning.
