CRAIG HAYMAN
Craig grew up in Africa, where he lived and worked in wilderness areas before his career in architecture. He has an enduring connection to the natural world, and a special interest in the delicate relationship between landscape and the built form.
He has led the design and delivery of several off-grid luxury hotels in Botswana and Zimbabwe, and brings to the team a thorough knowledge of sustainability best practice in design, technology and construction. Craig has more than fifteen years of architectural experience between Sydney, Cape Town and southern Queensland.
Craig has been the recipient of several architectural awards and scholarships, including the Helen Gardner Travel Scholarship, which facilitates overseas travel for architectural research. For this award, Craig traveled to South America, where he focused primarily on subtropical modernism and the works of Oscar Niemeyer and Roberto Burle Marx. Exploration of critical regionalism and the contemporary interpretation of vernacular architecture continue to inform his design philosophy.
Outside of architecture, Craig enjoys art, photography, rugby, and bush walking. Craig teaches Design Studio at Griffith University and History of Architecture at Bond University.
